Ndamji Doll - large wide - white

Origin: Cameroon

Unadorned Ndamji dolls are made by Ndamji blacksmiths in Cameroon as play things for young girls. When a woman marries the dolls are adorned with beads, shells, coins and other trinkets and they become fertility dolls cared for as though they are a real child. The dolls are characterized by a narrow trunk and head with a shapely body forming a striking geometric design.

Other tribes in the region have been influenced by the Ndamji and the effectiveness of their dolls and have adopted the dolls themselves.
