Long shield - white & black

Origin: Cameroon

Adorn your wall with one or more striking black and white shields. Carved from one piece of wood and decorated with beads and cowrie shells, these shields will add shape and design elements to an entrance space, hall or living room wall.

Traditionally in Africa, shields were used not only as defensive weapons but also as decorative or ritual objects that held symbolic meaning. It is believed that the wooden African shield originated from the Tikar tribe in Cameroon. The local people, the Bamileke, are renowned for their skilled craftsmanship and great sense of business.

Note: This item is entirely hand crafted and purchased items may vary slightly to the image.
